Here at Kingshill Studios, we believe that a newborn baby photoshoot is an important thing to consider well before your baby is born.
While there’s so much to think about and prepare for when you’re pregnant, please don’t leave planning your newborn baby photoshoot to the last minute!
Three reasons to book your newborn baby photoshoot as early as possible:
1. You can start ticking things off your pregnancy to-do list!
Planning for the birth of your baby can easily become an overwhelming task. There is a way to ease the pressure on yourself during your pregnancy though…Get organised!
The second trimester is a great time to get planning and preparing. An ideal time is just after your 12-week pregnancy scan. At this stage, your baby bump will be blossoming and, hopefully, you’ll be feeling well. You’ll have energy and still lots of time ahead of you before your baby’s arrival.
Among other things, start considering which newborn photographer in Aberdeen you’d like to hire.
Getting your newborn baby photoshoot organised, and your preferred date secured firmly in the photographer’s diary will give you peace of mind.
Plus, it will save you any potential hassle later on in the pregnancy when your thoughts will, naturally, be more focused on the imminent arrival of your little one.
2. There’s more involved in planning a newborn baby photoshoot than you might perhaps think
Choosing a newborn photographer is not as simple as you might assume. There is much to think about. It isn’t necessarily as simple as just ringing and booking a photographer you find listed on Google!
This is another reason why we recommend that you take the time early in your pregnancy to find the perfect newborn baby photographer for you.
Planning your newborn baby photoshoot
Here are the steps you’ll likely need to go through once you’ve decided that you hope to have professional baby photographs taken:
1. Spend time researching potential newborn photographers in Aberdeen
2. Shortlist a few photographers whose style you love, and which would fit perfectly in your own home,
3. Contact them all to make enquiries, asking about their availability in the week or two after your expected due date, pricing etc.
4. If they have availability, and you believe they could be a good fit, you might arrange to meet the photographer in person and visit their newborn photography studio, if they have one, before making your decision
5. You’ll want to consider what questions you want to ask of the photographer in order to get clear on whether to hire them
6. At the meeting you’ll ask all those questions. The aim is to come away confident in the process, knowing what’s involved and what happens after the photoshoot
7. Then, finally, with your decision made, you’ll then secure your preferred date with your chosen baby photographer and perhaps pay a deposit or booking fee.
As you can probably imagine, this process all takes time which is why we’re urging you to make enquiries as early as possible.
Remember, since you’ll be entrusting that person to handle your new bundle of joy when they are just a few days old, you will want to feel that you can trust your chosen photographer to handle your baby safely. You’ll also want to feel 100% comfortable with them and in the experience that they will provide.

3. The most desired newborn photographers in Aberdeen have limited availability
The third reason why we believe that you should plan your newborn baby photoshoot as early as possible is that our availability is limited to only a few newborn photoshoots per week, and we get booked up several months in advance.
At the time of writing, in early April, we are now booking in parents-to-be into September this year.
We limit our availability so that we can provide a flexible service to each and every one of our valued customers. Booking in early with your preferred newborn photographer will ensure that you get one of the few slots there may be in their calendar should your baby not arrive on the date they are expected.
We will always ensure that an alternative date is made available to you if you’re booked in with us for a newborn baby photoshoot and your baby arrives either earlier or later than planned. But if you are not booked in the diary, it is unlikely we’ll be able to accommodate you.
Although we do welcome last-minute enquiries, existing customers will naturally get priority access to any remaining slots we may have.
Why you should plan your newborn baby photoshoot ASAP
Although it can feel that those nine months of pregnancy are long (and by the end, it can feel like it’s lasted forever), there is much to do in that time to get fully prepared for your new arrival.
Once you know that you want to preserve the precious first few days or weeks after your baby’s arrival in beautiful professional portraits, believe us, you’ll want to get your newborn baby photoshoot booked well in advance.
If you’re expecting a baby and think that we could be the right newborn baby photographer for you, please get in touch to book in or give us a call with any questions you may have.
As we’ve already said, we hate having to turn families away because they get in touch with us too late and we have no remaining availability. So please do book your newborn baby photoshoot as early as possible to avoid disappointment!
