THE TIMES SCOTLAND
It was a proud moment when one of my photos as the lead in a feature in The Times, Scotland, in June 2021.
No LIGHT WITHOUT DARKNESS
Before I became a newborn and family photographer, did you know that I was a teacher, a headteacher and a school inspector for 23 years?
It was great to get the chance to share my story and talk about how I got into photography after education, and the challenges of changing careers on the No Light Without Darkness blog recently. You can read the article here.
THAT’s TV NORTH SCOTLAND
It was wonderful to be featured on That’s TV North Scotland! The programme viewers were so supportive of our Capow superhero photoshoot which raised money for the Duchenne UK charity.
I had the opportunity to share the story of how we helped brave local children to transform into their favourite superheroes. The children who took part were nominated by the public, and their friends and families.
It was an absolute pleasure to see the children’s happy faces when the photos were revealed to them!
EVENING EXPRESS
I’m thrilled that the Evening Express has featured our latest Limited Edition ‘Capow’ Sessions. The paper ran a double page article in the newspaper and the story was also featured online!
It revealed how a number of local children dealing with tough times had been nominated by members of the public to enjoy a fun photoshoot. During the shoot, the children had the chance to tranform into their favourite comic characters such as Captain Marvel, Captain America and Wonder Woman.
All the money raised through the shoots was donated to the Duchenne UK charity, which supports people living with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. You can read the Evening Express article here.
The Pramshed
The Pramshed is a parenting, pregnancy, career, lifestyle and travel blog. I was thrilled to be invited to be featured in its popular ‘Parents in Business’ series.
In the article, I talk about how I first became interested in photography when my children were young, my motivations for setting up the business and how it has evolved over the years into the thriving maternity, newborn and family portrait studio that it is today.
I discuss how I manage the business around my, now teenage boys. Plus, I share my top tips for other parents who aspire to set up their own business. You can read the Pramshed article here.
Huffington Post
As a newborn photographer and mum of two, I know a thing or two about babies! So, when I discovered that the Huffington Post was seeking contributors for an article about tips for first-time mums, I was very happy to share my advice.
I’m regularly sharing tips like this on my Kingshill Studios blog. Take a look! Here’s even more advice about newborn essentials which I’ve written with mums-to-be and new parents in mind.

Business for MumS
Business for Mums is a blog which aims to inspire and support female entrepreneurs who are also parents. It was brilliant to have been interviewed for its ‘Mumpreneurs’ series.
During the interview, I talked about why I established Kingshill Studios, what inspired me to become a business owner and I revealed some of the challenges I’ve faced in business. I explain how I funded my business in the beginning, and what I believe to the best thing about being an entrepreneur.

THE PRESS AND JOURNAL
The Press and Journal is a local newspaper who were interested to find out in how I became a photographer. A lot of people tell me I am very good with children, and there’s definitely reason behind it, I’m a mum of two and I also spent some years as Aberdeenshire Council’s youngest headteacher at 29 years old.
In the article I discuss how I made the transition from headteacher to photographer, and how I continue to do what I love most, working with people.
